I felt the like scene when the horses were wounded and they soldiers were just watching was very disturbing. How come that they had such a bad reaction to the horses dying when they see people dying all the time. Why is it any different then a person dying? I understand that it is hard to watch an animal die but i feel like it would even be harder to watch a person die. How come Kat wouldn't let Detering put the horses out of their misery? I feel this scene was one of the most disturbing parts of the book.
I agree I dont see how they could kill men every day and not be able to see a horse die. This just shows how mad the war effected the soldiers minds.
ReplyDeleteGood observation justin! I am also a little confused how the soldiers having such a bad reaction to the horses dying when they see people dying all the time. My opinion on this is they become so use to people dying but not so much the horses going through the same thing.
ReplyDeleteThat's something that's really good to think about. Maybe it was because it took more to kill a horse than a human. What would kill a human almost instantly, wouldn't put a horse to death, but put it into excruciating pain. So the cries of the horses wouldn't be short like a man's, where a man would cry for a shorter amount of time and less louder than a horse's -- the horses would make more noises and cries.
